Continuous Improvement Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

• Own the implementation of Lean manufacturing principles throughout the manufacturing process to improve competitiveness and customer experience. Contribute to and assist with continuous improvement/Kaizen activities throughout organization. • Identify, plan, manage and execute continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost, cycle time, and lead time while increasing safety, quality, and repeatability. • Prioritize, plan, and execute Kaizen events/teams which includes the collection and preparation of accurate prerequisite data. Supervise and report on 90-day sustainment of results to objectives. • Drive improvements in design for manufacturing and value engineering with close relationship with Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing departments. • Evaluate and execute time studies to establish engineering labor standards and routings. • Prepare standard work documents for new and existing manufacturing processes. • Lead projects and working teams to successfully initiate, plan, execute, supervise and close projects. • Train employees on continuous improvement techniques and methodologies to assure complete familiarity and ease of use. This includes principles of Lean manufacturing, Takt Time, Standard Work, 6S, Standard Work Cell Layout, Value Stream Mapping and other improvement tools. • Implement and monitor balanced visual management programs throughout the plant, including 5S, schedule consistency, and other shop floor reporting. • Drive change with inefficient transactional processes within the primary value streams that service internal and external customers. • Provides leadership and career development to seven direct reports. • Train and develop manufacturing support team to establish and ensure achievement of goals. • Utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and business drivers to synchronize and prioritize improvement projects.

Experience

• Minimum of five to seven years developing and leading Lean manufacturing initiatives in an industrial manufacturing & assembly, or customer service environment required. • Minimum of three to five years supporting kaizens and training teams on lean principles and tools required. • Must have proven lean/six sigma success track record with a progressive manufacturing organization. • Engineered time study, labor standards, methods, layout experience. • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. • Facility layout optimization experience desired. • Experience with automation applications and implementation a plus.

Education

Bachelors’ Degree in a science, engineering, business or other related technical related field. Lean and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand/walk 10-90% of work day • Occasional bending and squatting required • Occasional lifting required (up to 40 lbs.)

Travel may be required (up to 10%) depending on business priorities and/or related activities
